Funeral service for Leah Fern Smith age 77, of Grandfield, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grandfield with Rev. Harlon Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandfield Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Ms. Smith passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, in a Lawton hospital.

Leah Fern (Lewis) Whittington Smith was born September 23, 1939, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Owen William and Margaret Pauline (Neugebauer) Lewis. She attended Loveland Public School, graduating with the last senior class of Loveland High School in 1957. She later attended Draughan Business College in Wichita Falls, Texas. On January 23, 1960, she and Truman Whittington were united in marriage. She worked prior to her marriage at Hayes Insurance Company. She later worked at Johnson & Johnson in Wichita Falls for over 20 years, retiring in 1981. She was a homemaker. Her family was her life; she adored her sons and grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than checking on the cattle, her dogs, chickens and goats. She attended Calvary Baptist Church of Grandfield.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Whittington and his wife Zelphia of Grandfield, OK; one brother, Lavon Lewis and his wife Carol of Grandfield, OK; three grandchildren, Allie Rae Daniel and her husband Colton of Truscott, TX, Devin Renae Whittington of Gracemont, OK and Chantry David Whittington of Grandfield, OK; one great-grandson, Augustus Clyde Daniel; and a very close and special friend, Wayne Spradlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, David Whittington.
