Lela Mae
Mooney
Jul 5, 1931 — Mar 24, 2022
Frederick
Lela Mae Mooney passed from this life into Gods embrace on Thursday, March 24, at the age 90. She was the only child of Earl and Nellie Lary of Guthrie, Oklahoma and was very much a daddy's girl all her life.
In 1967, she and her husband Kenneth Mooney moved their family from Purcell, Oklahoma to Frederick when he was transferred to by Southwest States Telephone company. Lela Mae was a member of Tesca Baptist Church where her family was raised. She faithfully served in many different church roles for over 50 years. Her goal in life was to see all her family members safe in the arms of Jesus.
She was the ultimate homemaker who took pride in serving three hot meals every single day as well as homemade dessert every day for after school snacks. Her checkbook was always balanced right down to the penny and she was a master at budgeting, always putting others needs ahead of her own. She spent every summer making back-to-school clothes for her children as well as making every prom and wedding dress for her girls.
She will be missed terribly by her daughters and sons-in-law, Keith Walker and Craig Peters, who were blessed with the best mother-in-law in the world. Keith and Craig adored her and there was nothing they wouldn't do to make her life a little easier. She was blessed with five children, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held in heaven when she is reunited wit her parents, her husband Kenneth and her son Pete who she has missed so much. Her family takes comfort in knowing she will also be in heaven holding her grandson, Nic Barnett, and granddaughter Everly Peters. She loved the last five years spent in her little home at the Frederick Nursing Center and we thank them for loving her and making her so happy. We could not have mad e it through this without the angels at Elara Hospice who were with us every step of the way. You all were a true blessing to our family, and we will never forget the love and compassion shown to us. You really are angels on Earth!
For those wishing to pay their respect, she may be viewed at Jackson Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022
Lela Mae always thought of life as a beautiful experience, and she enjoyed it to the end.
