Obituary

Requiem Mass for Leta Jezisek, age 79, of rural Grandfield, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Burkburnett, Texas with Rev. Khoi V. Tran, officiating. Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the St. Jude Catholic Church. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Cemetery, Davidson, Oklahoma. All arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Jezisek passed away on Sunday evening, August 27, 2017, in a Wichita Falls, Texas hospital.
Leta Atkins Jezisek was born on December 14, 1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas to James Hannon and Hettie Rene (Basinger) Atkins. She attended Victory Consolidated #11 and graduated from Victory High School in 1954. She and Jack Wilson were married in 1956. She worked as office manager and bookkeeper for Davidson Co-op for many years and then for Humphreys Co-op where she met the love of her life. She and Ed Jezisek were united in marriage on October 28, 1987, in Sherman, Texas. Leta and Ed traveled for many years rebuilding gins. She enjoyed the outdoors where she and Ed farmed the Basinger Home Place for many years. Leta later worked as an Agricultural Surveyor for the National Agriculture Statistics Service.   She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Burkburnett, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Ed of the home; five daughters, Sheila Brockriede and husband James of Electra, Texas, Susan Smith of Tipton, Oklahoma, Sharla Bennight and husband James of Frederick, Oklahoma, Marlene Leonard of Midland, Texas and Cheryl Mayne and husband Thurman, of Dallas, Texas; three sons, Edward Jezisek, II and wife Karen of Florida, Pat Jezisek of Grandfield, Oklahoma, Joe Jezisek and wife Keri of California; grandchildren, Scott Fillmore and wife Rhonda, Misty Marsh and husband Cary, Adam Brockriede and wife Heather, Justin Smith and wife Alicia, Alisha Smith, Toby Smith and wife Gidget, Stormie Shelby, Sarah Floyd and husband Zac, Jacob Bennight and fiancé Maci Robnett, Angela Thorpe, Nicola Brownlee, Edward Jezisek, III, Peter Jezisek, Reagan Jezisek, Mindy Briggs, Josh Jezisek, Patrick Jezisek, Andrew Jezisek, Michael Mayne, William Mayne, Stephen Mayne, Will Leonard, Lauren Callo and Christi Leonard Smith, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, Dana and Kay Atkins; special cousins that she treated as her own, Billy and Wynona Atkins; several cousins and many friends .
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Merle Atkins; a son-in-law, Randy Smith; and a great-grand-daughter, Charley Fay Smith.
Memorials contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Leta Jezisek.
