Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Lynda Earle Mathews age 84, of Wichita Falls, Texas, will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, 201 E. Grand Avenue, Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Mathews passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at her home in Wichita Falls.

Lynda was born on December 28, 1940, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Earl and Thelma (Beason) Settle.  She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School, with the Class of 1959.  She later attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Dariel Gene Mathews on March 18, 1960, in Frederick, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 1994.

She and Dariel loved the outdoors, they enjoyed going fishing and camping;  they enjoyed spending time with their friends playing all types of cards. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy! Lynda was an avid Frederick Bomber fan, if health permitted, she never missed a game. She also loved watching all types of OU Sports on television.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Lynda was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Oklahoma Fire Fighters Association, where she previously served as president.

She is survived by her children, Kim Mathews Thomas and her husband Mike of Wichita Falls, Texas, Janna Mathews Johnson and her husband Danny of Wichita Falls, Texas, Becky Mathews Baker and her husband Keith of Altus, Oklahoma. Dara Mathews Bowland and her husband Allen of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Scott Mathews and his wife Amanda of Frederick, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren, Jordan Thomas, Michael Thomas and his wife Paige, Danna Reidy and her husband David, Tanna Hasty and her husband Wes "East", Ashlee Flores and her husband Ramiro, Kelsee Baker and her fiancé Kamron Speed, Austin Waterman, Chelsea Bowland, Cody Bowland, Zacary Mathews, Alexander Mathews, and Aubrey Mathews; five great-grandchildren, Kyce Thomas, KK Johnson, Kalub Johnson, Kaedyn Johnson, and Collin Johnson; and her special companions, Molly and DG.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Settle; her mother and step-father, Thelma "Mom" and L.L. Kilgore; her husband, Dariel Gene Mathews; and one great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Marie.
