Obituary

Funeral service for Lynne Le Anne Strickland age 54, of Blair, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Altus with Elder Art Barker and Rev. David Player officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Lynne passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at her home.

Lynne Le Anne (Barker) Strickland was born August 18, 1961, in Sherman, Texas to A.L. and Charlotte (Wynn) Barker. After her family moved to Southwest Oklahoma, she attended Weaver and Davidson Public Schools. She graduated from Davidson High School in 1979. She later attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. On June 9, 1979, she and Gary Leon Strickland were united in marriage at Frederick, Oklahoma. They moved to Stillwater in 1981, where they raised their family and she attended Oklahoma State University briefly. Lynne was a stay at home mom; spending time with her family was a central part of her life. She later attended and graduated from Indian Meridian Vo-Tech in Stillwater with a certificate in Medical Terminology. In July of 2000, she and Gary moved back to Southwest Oklahoma to the Blair area. Later she worked as a receptionist for JCMH Medical Clinic in Altus. She loved her horses and working with her animals. Lynne was an open and compassionate person that welcomed people into her life and looked for ways to help others when she saw their needs. People felt comfortable and welcomed around her. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Altus.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Strickland of the home; her mother, Charlotte Barker of Frederick; two sons, Justin Strickland of Altus and Brian Strickland and his wife Julie of Frederick; one daughter, Rebecca Ruiz and her husband Ricky of Altus; two brothers, Art Barker and his wife Lisa of Anadarko and Craig Barker of Davidson; seven grandchildren, Kylee Strickland, Kale Strickland, Caleb Strickland, Brooklynn Strickland-Ruiz, Emma Strickland-Ruiz, Lily Ruiz and Max Ruiz; one nephew, Lee Barker; one niece, Claire Barker; and a host of aunts, uncles and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, A.L. Barker.
