Funeral Service for Marilyn Marie Nation, age 88, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Nation passed away Saturday evening, June 27, 2020, at her home in Frederick, Oklahoma.
Marilyn Marie Nation was born on October 12, 1931, in Headrick, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Estelle (Goodfellow) Azlin. She attended both Headrick and Altus Public Schools. She and Doyle Nation were united in marriage on July 23, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. Marilyn was a Kindergarten teacher early on in Frederick, she also worked at the Credit Bureau, and retired from the Tillman County Assessor's Office. She loved being a Sunday school teacher and playing the piano or organ during church services. Marilyn was a member of the Eastern Star. She attended both the Tesca and Trinity Baptist Church before becoming a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick.
Survivors include her three sons, David Nation and his wife Kathleen, Gary Nation and his wife Connie, and Jeffrey Nation all of Frederick, Oklahoma; brothers and sisters-in-law, Junior and Jo Nation of Lawton, Oklahoma, Trula and Charlie Kastner of Friendship, Oklahoma, Margie and Dwight Watson of Friendship, Oklahoma, Bill Hudgens of Altus, Oklahoma and Evelyn Nation of Tennessee; one sister, Betty Talkington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Estelle Azlin; her husband, Doyle Nation; one brother, Wayne Azlin; two sisters, Elaine Bartels and Joann Azlin; two great-granddaughters, Angel Blackburn and Alexis Nation; two brothers-in-law, JW Nation and Jack Bartels, and one sister-in-law, Vera Hudgens.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Memory of Marilyn Nation.
