Obituary

Funeral service for former Tipton and Frederick resident, Maudie Faye Simpson age 75, of Forest Hill, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 300 E. Davis Ave., Tipton, Oklahoma with Bishop Chester McGowan officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Simpson passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Burleson, Texas.

Maudie Faye (Wright) Simpson was born July 22, 1944, in Tipton, Oklahoma to Vester Elwood and Jessie Faye (Johnson) Wright. She attended Booker T. Washington School in Tipton before transferring to Frederick High School. On October 31, 1961, she and Charles Ray Simpson were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. She worked as a cook at Kent's Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas and later Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Frederick, Oklahoma for many years. Maudie was an excellent cook; she adored her children and grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy! She enjoyed watching her T.V. Programs; a few of her favorites were, The Price Is Right, Good Times, The Jefferson's and Sanford and Sons. She was a member of the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth, Texas.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Ray Simpson of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Carla Yvonne Hatton and her husband, Bushae of Mesquite, Texas, Angela Renea Simpson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Stephanie Yvette Smith and her husband Isaac of Forest Hill, Texas; one brother, Elvis Wayne Wright and his wife Desi of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, Joe Thompson of Frederick, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Andre Johnson, Antonio Simpson, Christopher Simpson, LaTrina McGowan, Ebony Simpson, Shanitra Monroe, Kendra Simpson, Gary Dickson, Jr., Taniqui McGowan, Malcolm Simpson, Bianca Wright, TyCorin Simpson and Isaiah Simpson; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vester Elwood and Jessie Faye Wright; her husband, Charles Ray Simpson who preceded her on November 2, 2011; one daughter, Catrina Simpson; one sister, Barbara Thompson; one brother who died in infancy; and a grandson, Antonio Simpson.
