Graveside service for Mose Alvin "Kirk" Ellis age 81, of rural Snyder, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2018, at the Spring Hill Cemetery south of Cooperton. Burial will follow under the direction Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Ellis passed away Thursday morning, December 27, 2018, at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Mose Alvin Ellis was born March 15, 1937, on the family farm southwest of Reed, Oklahoma to Mose Ross and Adele (Quinn) Ellis. He attended Vinson Public Schools. In 1987, he and Jane Hancock were united in marriage in Snyder, Oklahoma. Kirk enjoyed the outdoors; he was an avid calf roper and team roper and was a lifelong rancher. His family was very important part of his life; he was a true family man.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ellis and a special granddaughter, Makensi Phelps of the home; two sons, Justin Ellis and his wife Alison of Amarillo, Texas and Steve Ellis and his wife Erin of Caney, Kansas; one daughter, Julie Larman and her husband Frankie of Purcell, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, JoAnna Scrivner and her husband Buck of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and Sharee Emmons of Snyder, Oklahoma; six brothers, Rance Ellis and his wife Jean of Mangum, Oklahoma, Jim Ellis and his wife Wanda of Panhandle, Oklahoma, Kent Ellis of Mangum, Oklahoma, Carl Ellis and his wife Brenda of Vinson, Oklahoma, Clinton Ellis of Clinton, Oklahoma and Randy Ellis and his wife Flossie of Crescent, Oklahoma; one sister, Shirley Derby and her husband Delbert of Clinton, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Hayes; and one brother, Clayton Ellis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Diabetes Research in memory of Mose Alvin "Kirk" Ellis.
The family will receive friends and family on Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2018, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
