Obituary

Celebration of Life for Nancy Mavis Pinson age 82, of Tipton, Oklahoma will be at 2:30 P.M., Friday, February 7, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, 300 East Davis Avenue, Tipton, with Rod Boles officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Pinson passed away Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, at The Courtyard at Magnolia Creek in Altus, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loved ones.

Nancy Mavis (Day) Pinson was born on November 12, 1942, to Charles and Clelia (Rowan) Day in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She grew up with three brothers, Rick, Jim and Stuart in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Nancy graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa and was voted "most shy" from a class of over 900 students.   Nancy attended Oklahoma State University and was introduced by a good friend, Mary Anne (Hutchison) Taylor to Mary Anne's cousin, Lynn Royce Pinson on a ZTA hayride on October 15, 1960, at OSU.  Nancy and Lynn would celebrate this meeting day for nearly 59 years.  After many years of Lynn pursuing Nancy and finally catching her, God's timing worked out and they were married on March 20, 1965, in Tulsa. Nancy and Lynn bought a farm south of Tipton and began a family later establishing a new homestead north of town.  Nancy and Lynn would have 2 daughters: Kari Djon and Jo Lynn.

Nancy often worked as a church volunteer helping take kids to Falls Creek with Butch when she was a young wife and mother, helping in the kitchen, nursery and taking roll in the children's department at First Baptist Tipton.  She was a faithful deacon's wife for over five decades.  She loved her church.  She was a devoted wife and stay at home Moma that lived her life to love her family and encourage those around her.  She attended every event her girls were involved in and as many as she could of her grandkids.  Nancy had a kind heart and beautiful smile.  She was at times a mother to those other than her own listening, advising and helping when she could.

Nancy spent many years devoted to volunteering and donating blood to the Oklahoma Blood Institute.  She felt this was very important and had countless t-shirts to show for it.  She also worked for several years at Ayers Nursing home keeping books and helping in any way she could. She had many interesting hobbies and collections from baseball cards to buttons, match box cars to vintage stamps and postcards.

She was a city girl who became a farm girl and enjoyed the small-town life.  She loved checking out estate sales with Butch, talk radio, the latest John Grisham novel, having a cat around, listening to Ricky Nelson, Rizzoli and Isles, singing old hymns at church, doing jigsaw puzzles and collecting interesting finds.  Nancy also had great rhythm and could dance with the best of them.  If we could only imagine… she is dancing now. Nancy very often put others before herself.  She was a woman of great faith who wanted more than anything for people to know her Jesus.

Nancy is survived by her daughters: Kari Djon Baker and husband, Darren of Altus, OK; Jo Lynn Boles and husband, Rod of Pauls Valley, OK, her grandchildren: Allie Lindsey and husband, Dusty; Jake Ayers and wife Morgan; Jackson Boles; Luke Boles; and one soon to be here great-grandson.  Nancy is also survived by one nephew, Seth Day and wife, Sara; and three nieces: Judy McClure and husband, Dan; Jeny Searcy and husband, Mike; and Jana Gruidl and husband, Mike along with several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clelia Day, her brothers Rick, Jim and Stuart Day, and her husband, Lynn Royce "Butch" Pinson who preceded her on August 18, 2024.
