Funeral service for Naomi Blackford age 95, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Savage and Rev. Daniel Coffin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.  Mrs. Blackford passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.

Naomi (Hatcher) Blackford was born on April 29, 1927, in Hollis, Oklahoma to John Austin and Oma Vera (Frey) Hatcher.  She attended public school in Antlers, Oklahoma.  On July 20, 1946, she and Jimmy Lee "Jim" Blackford were united in marriage in De Queen, Arkansas.  Naomi worked as a nurse's aide at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, and later owned and operated a beauty shop and Blackford Grocery in Davidson, Oklahoma.  She worked as Deli Manager at Greenfield Grocery for a period; but was most known for her love for children, where she operated a daycare center in her home for many years.  Naomi was an excellent seamstress.  She loved to cook and was an outstanding baker.  She was well known for her homemade bread, pies, cakes, and cookies.  But most of all her family looked forward to an Enchilada Casserole for special occasions.  She was a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church, and later attended the First Assembly of God Church with her family.

She was survived by one son, James Blackford and his wife Linda of Frederick, Oklahoma;   one daughter, Pam Dunlap and her fiancé Vernon Shive of Altus, Oklahoma; three brothers, Carl Hatcher and his wife Lacka of Antlers, Oklahoma, Bill Hatcher and his wife Linda of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Dewey Hatcher of Antlers, Oklahoma; two sisters, Norma Gaston of Union City, Tennessee, and MaryLee White of Antlers, Oklahoma;  six grandchildren, James Lee Blackford and his wife Jennifer, Kent Parker and his companion Mary Whittle, Kristie Coffin and her husband Daniel, Clifton Blackford and his companion Destiny Habekott, Zackary Dunlap and wife Vanessa, Kacy Gutierrez and her fiancé  Timmy Hunt; twenty-five great-grandchildren; twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Oma Hatcher; her husband, Jim Blackford who passed away on September 1, 2008; one daughter, Carol Parker; one great-granddaughter, Jamie Rae Abrams; two brothers, James Hatcher and Donald Hatcher; and three sisters, Doris Stone, Melba Burris, and Kathryne Phaff.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, for Alzheimer's Research, in memory of Naomi Blackford.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday evening, July 29, 2022, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
