Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Nita Gaye Dotson age 73, of Tulsa, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick with David Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Ms. Dotson passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at her home in Tulsa.
Nita Gaye (Rhodes) Dotson was born August 14, 1947, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Johnny Melvin and Ave Nell (Harness) Rhodes. She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School with the Class of 1965. She later attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. On August 15, 1967, she and George Thomas Dotson were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. To this union was born one son, Christopher Ryan. She later married Tom Lewis, who preceded her in death on November 29, 2007. She was employed with Parfab Industries, Inc. in Tulsa for many years. One of Nita Gaye's greatest attributes was loving her family and friends. She would always leave you with a smile on your face; you always felt better when you left. She was an avid square dancer and loved traveling and meeting new friends. Nita Gaye was a kid at heart; she loved all holidays and would decorate her home as it was a southern showplace. She enjoyed gardening, Nita Gaye's yard was always immaculate and full of beautiful flowers.
She is survived by one son, Christopher Ryan Dotson and his wife Heather of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Mary Candle Dotson of Tulsa; one great-grandson, Riley Bleu Neal of Tulsa; and her boyfriend, Tim Hamilton of Tulsa; other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Ave Nell Rhodes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research, in memory of Nita Gaye Dotson.
