Memorial service for Nita Jo Manning, age 97, of Tipton, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel, 111 N. 11th Street, with Harley Davidson, minister of Western Hills Church of Christ, Lawton, Oklahoma, officiating.

Mrs. Manning passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at a Duncan, Oklahoma, nursing care center.

She was born June 14, 1928, in rural Tillman County near Tipton, Oklahoma, on the family farm. She attended Tipton schools and graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1946. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Stanley "Speck" Manning on April 19, 1947, in Tipton, Oklahoma. Nita worked at Centra-Leather Goods, Bumpas Drug Store, and then worked many years as a secretary for the Tipton Public Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton.

Survivors include her son: Ernie Manning and wife Jana, of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Brett Manning and wife Lori, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Chris Manning and wife Katy, of Prosper, Texas, Emmie Jo Atchley, of Oklahoma City, T.J. Calkins and wife Elizabeth, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Lance Manning and wife Angie, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; great grandchildren: Elena, Kel, Cam, Zac, Bo, Case, Shelby, Skyler, Mackenzie, Madison, Morgan, Kanin, and Kruze.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Stanley "Speck" Manning; a son: Bub Manning and wife Janice; a daughter: Terrie Calkins and husband Larry; two brothers: Jack Herring, and John H. Herring; and a sister: Raenell Wray.
