Memorial service for Nita Gay Peet, age 77, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, Oklahoma with Mike Haverland officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Ms. Peet passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder, Oklahoma.
Nita Gay Peet was born on January 30, 1943, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Burl and Viola (Watson) Howell. She attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School with the Class of 1961. On June 21, 1963, she and Mike Peet were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. She worked for Centra Leather Goods and Betsy Bra for many years. After her children were grown, she returned to work at Alco, Coy's, Delbert's and United Grocery Stores as a cashier. She enjoyed working in her greenhouse and loved her poodle "Precious". She was a member of the 13th & Josephine Church of Christ in Frederick, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Peet and Jay Peet both of Frederick, Oklahoma; one niece, Alicia Howell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Jerry Brent Howell of Ardmore, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Howell of Enid, Oklahoma and Pam King and her husband Howard of Altus, Oklahoma;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl & Viola Howell; one brother, Terry Howell; and one daughter-in-law, Amanda Peet.
