Obituary

Celebration of Life for Norma Jean Lennox, age 81, of Duncan, Oklahoma, will be at 12:00 p.m., noon, on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 901 Ash Avenue, Duncan, Oklahoma with Dr. Jerry W. Graham officiating.  Burial will follow in the Henderson-Harris Cemetery, 3000 S. 2 nd Street, in Duncan. Norma went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Norma Jean Lennox was born on August 27, 1941, in Tatums, Oklahoma to Eugene and Katherine (Williams) Brown. She was baptized and dedicated her life to Christ at the early age of 16 years old under Bobby Nealy. Norma was united in marriage to Cecil Williams in 1959. This union blessed them with Donald and Kathy Williams. Norma later married Ronald McDonald and they were blessed with Marilyn Calvin. They became a blended family with Ronald McDonald, Jr.  On April 23, 1982, Norma married Marion Charles Lennox, Jr., and became a blended family with Racquel Lennox.

Norma attended Tatums Public School, where she graduated from Tatums High School with the Class of 1960. After high school she attended the VoTech in Duncan, Oklahoma. She then worked as a clerical assistant at the Duncan Police Department for 27 years. Norma united with Jones Chapel, under Superintendent J.E. Jones, then under the late Elder N.H. James, at Word of Life Church of God in Christ. She served as Missions President, Trustee Board Member, in addition to teaching Sunday School and Bible Band at Word of Life under Dr. Jerry W. Graham.

Norma loved to serve her community and never met a stranger. Anyone was a friend that she could tell about the Lord. She was passionate about her jail ministry, where she would visit female inmates, sing, pray with them, pass out Bibles and care packages, and encourage them. In addition, Norma would drop off fruit baskets to nursing home patients and always helped out anyone in need. She loved her family and was Williams-Davis strong!

She leaves to cherish her memories: her three children, Donald Williams and his wife Connie of Oklahoma City, OK; Kathy Williams of Duncan, OK; and Marilyn Calvin and her husband Charles L., Jr. of Duncan, OK; one step-son, Ronald McDonald, Jr. of Lawton, OK, and one step-daughter, Racquel Lennox of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Lilly, Shamia Thrash, Blaine Taylor, De'Juan Williams, Cecil Williams, Terene Williams, Darlin Thrash,  Ze'Toria Calvin, A'Ja Calvin; ten great grandchildren,  Taniya Shaw, Natalia Chaires, DeAunte' Shaw, Jr., Bryce Chaires, Aaron Shinault, Jr., Jade Williams, Madelyn Williams, Carter Williams, Zachary Taylor, and Olivia Williams; two sisters Gwendolyn Sanders and her husband Melvin Sanders, Charlotte Franklin; one brother, Jimmy Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews and Williams-Davis cousins, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Katherine (Williams) Jackson; her loving grandmother who raised her, "Mama" Ida Williams; her husband, Marion Lennox; her brother, Jerry Don Matthews; and her sister, Eddie Brown.
