Funeral Service for Ouida Sue Lowe, age 89, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Frederick, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Lowe passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness.
Ouida Sue (Morton) Lowe was born November 5, 1930, on a farm 2 miles west of Hollister, Oklahoma, to Richard "Dick" and Brighty (Allgood) Morton. She attended Hollister Public Schools until 1944, when the family moved to Frederick. She was a member of the Oklahoma High School Honor Society, Pep Club, and Thespian Club. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1948, as class salutatorian. She then attended Draughon's School of Business in Wichita Falls, Texas, and completed the accounting program.
Sue married Edward T. Lowe on August 21, 1949, in Frederick, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Davidson, Oklahoma, before moving to Frederick in 1961, where Sue remained until her health began to fail in the fall of 2019.
Sue worked in a variety of jobs throughout her life and knew almost everyone in town. She worked at the Davidson Gin, the Chickasha Cotton Oil Company, John Deere, First National Bank (now BancFirst), Tillman Producers Co-Op, most of the area wide grain elevators, and Vanderlaan Dairy. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.
Sue was an active member of First Baptist Church, Frederick. She was on the Counting Committee, Benevolence Committee, and Kitchen and Quarterly Fellowship Committee. She was also a check signer. She enjoyed preparing meals for the youth and bereaved families. She was well known known for her angel food cakes and always had a spare in the freezer.
Sue loved to crochet, and you rarely saw her without an afghan in progress. She gifted many with her beautiful creations. She was also an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder, but she most enjoyed watching and supporting the Frederick Bomber teams in all sports, but especially football. She helped with the Fifth Quarters after the football games for many years. She was named 2015 Bomber Fan of the Year by the Frederick Quarterback Club.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Scott and her husband Eddie of Grand Prairie, Texas, Thomas Lowe and his wife Karen of Durant, Oklahoma, and Carla Hull of Durant, Oklahoma; one sister, Vinita Jo Stewart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Wyndel Morton of Vernon, Texas; three grandchildren, Chris Scott and his wife Teresa of Olathe, Kansas, Mike Scott and his wife Laura of Mansfield, Texas, and Chelsea Clure of Durant, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, Trenton, Tagen and Toryn Scott, James Scott, and Kinsley and Paisley Clue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward T. Lowe; her parent, Dick and Brighty Morton; and one brother, Weldon Morton.
