Obituary

Funeral service for Paul Ray Munro, age 65, of Manitou, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Deep Water Ministries, 1102 S 15th Street, Frederick, with Pastor Ronnie Morgan officiating.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Jackson Funeral Home.

Mr. Munro passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at his home in Manitou.

Paul Munro was born April 27, 1960, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Perry "Lefty" and Juanita "Red" (Murphy) Munro, passed away leaving a legacy of resilience and love.  Raised outside of Manitou in a small country home. Paul attended Frederick High School. Known for his tough exterior, he revealed a vibrant spirit at Skate-A-Rina, the skating rink managed by his father.  Paul dazzled audiences with his skating skills, winning limbo competitions and mastering the art of skating on 8-foot stilts – a skill he showcased at various prisons across southwest Oklahoma.

While at the skating rink, Paul's charisma and talent won the heart of Jeanette Sanchez. That night started their 45-year journey together, which led to their wedding on June 11, 1986, in Vernon, Texas.  They welcomed their only son, Brandon Perry Munro, on April 29, 1986.  Paul cherished time with family and friends, often found outdoors, fishing on the river or hunting.  He passed this passion on to Brandon, which led to many great memories and many more to come.  He was a great influence for the younger generation, showing them how to fish, hunt, and noodle. Paul was a retired volunteer firefighter for the Manitou Fire Department with several years of service.  He did ranch work, pipeline work, and also worked at Laney's Manufacturing.

In 2012, Paul faced a cancer diagnosis with unwavering determination.  His resolve shone brightly when he camped in a hospital parking lot, enduring pain to be present for the birth of his first grandson, Easton.  Paul's strength and loved defined him until the end.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Jeanette Munro; his son, Brandon and daughter-in-law, Haley; his grandsons, Easton and Weston; and his brother, David Munro of Florida, Danny Munro of Manitou, Oklahoma, and John Munro and wife Aline of Snyder, Oklahoma, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry "Lefty" and Juanita  "Red" Munro.

Paul's vibrant spirit and enduring love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
