Obituary

Graveside service for Robert "Bob" Walter Treadwell, age 90, of Snyder will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Snyder with Rev. Les Bussell of Snyder First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Treadwell passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Robert Walter Treadwell was born on April 17, 1926 in Sylocauga, Alabama to Stephen Smith and Ruth Clyde (Heifner) Treadwell. He graduated from Snyder High School. Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth Janet (Betty) Clark on December 31, 1050 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the First United Methodist Church in the parsonage. Bob was very proud of the fact that he and his brothers helped to build the First United Methodist Church in Snyder. He attended Oklahoma A & M College, now Oklahoma State University and received his BS Degree in Agriculture and his Master's Degree in Agronomy. Bob began his professional career with the Oklahoma State University Extension Service in 1956 as a county agent in Tillman County. During this time, Bob and Betty resided in the Snyder community and Bob served as PTA president. He finished his career as an area agronomist for thirteen counties with his central office located in Duncan, Oklahoma. Bob and Betty resided in Duncan for 28 years. During this time Bob received many awards for his outstanding service to farmers. He received a special award for meritorious service and outstanding contributions to the Alfalfa Industry, as well as the Indian Soil Conservation Award – Farmer of the Year. Bob was very active with the American Quarter Horse Association as the Oklahoma president in the early 1960's. He is a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and has received the Legacy Award.

He is survived by Betty, his wife of 66 years; his son Walter Treadwell of Snyder; his daughter Patricia Treadwell of Duncan; his nieces, Michelle Victory of Lubbock, Texas, Kate Johnston and her husband Jack of Lorenzo, Texas; nephews Dee Treadwell of Santa Fe New Mexico and Rix Victory of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S. S. and Ruth Treadwell; his sister, Sue Victory and husband Whit, and infant sister Marjorie; brothers, Smith Junior and wife Velma, Lamar and Wife Ruth, Bill and wife Kathy, Ralph and Larry; his mother-in-law, Opal Johnson and his father-in-law, Frank H. Clark.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ivanka Vassileva and her staff, Dr. Todd Lindley, Aspire Hospice and Staff and Sunshine Home Health Care. They would also like to thank Arlene Walker and Loretta Gaytan for their care of Bob.
