Obituary

Funeral service for Roy Allen Perkins age 83, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Perkins passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Roy Allen Perkins was born October 1, 1934, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Merle and Lucille (Wilcox) Perkins. He attended Weaver Consolidated #13 School, where he played basketball, baseball and was active in 4-H. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1952. He then enrolled in electrician school in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked for People's Electric receiving his Journeyman's Certificate in 1956. On March 19, 1954, Roy married his high school sweetheart, Shirley J. McKinley at the Bethel Baptist Church west of Frederick. They lived in Wichita Falls for six years, where their two sons were born.   They returned to Tillman County in 1960 where Roy was engaged in farming west of Frederick. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he was saved at the age of 7. He had served on many committees, was a deacon and song leader for many years. Roy had served on Weaver School Board and the Tillman County Historical Society Board. He loved farming and was very knowledgeable in areas of oil field work, electrical work as well as farming. Due to serious health issues, he retired in 2011. He and Shirley had traveled some and enjoyed visiting their grandkids. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with his Co-op friends every morning.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; sons, Bruce and Linda of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Barry and Mark of Austin, Texas; one brother, William Albert Perkins of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Matt & Kerry Perkins, Kalyn & Brandon Wilcher and Lauren and Stewart Records; great-grandchildren, Emma, Evan and Ella Wilcher, Braeden, Libby Faith and Abigail Perkins and Gunner Greene; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Lucille Perkins; and one sister, Joyce Lee Perkins; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Perkins.

Visitation will be on Sunday evening, June 3, 2018 from 7 until 8 at the funeral home.
