Funeral service for Ruben Garza age 75, of Davidson, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, 201 E. Grand, Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Les Banks officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davidson Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.  Mr. Garza passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the Promise Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Ruben Garza was born August 12, 1945, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Adela (Alvarez) Garza.  He attended Davidson Public Schools.  On July 26, 1967, he and Stella Medina were united in marriage in Fort Worth, Texas.  Ruben worked as a farm hand for many years; He later was employed by the Davidson Co-op and the Town of Davidson in the water maintenance department, retiring in 2015.  He later worked as caretaker of the Davidson Cemetery for many years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davidson.

Ruben loved playing and watching all types of sports, especially softball.  He was involved in his children and grandchildren's activities; throughout his life he coached several teams and enjoyed taking care of the playing field.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Stella Garza of the home; one son, Ruben Garza, Jr. of North Richland Hills, Texas; one daughter, Gabriella Miller and her husband Michael of Davidson, Oklahoma; five brothers, Jimmy Garza of Durant, Oklahoma, Albert Garza and his wife Judy of Davidson, Oklahoma, Steve Garza of Fort Worth, Texas, Ray Garza and his wife Donna of Lawton, Oklahoma and Joe Garza and his wife Kathy of Frederick, Oklahoma;  three sisters, Martha Garcia of Frederick, Oklahoma, Mary Flores and her husband Danny of Frederick, Oklahoma; and Rosa Morales of Vernon, Texas; four grandchildren, Amber Boyd and her husband Kelby, Michael Minor and his wife Kaycee, Shane Minor and his wife Sarah, and Landon Vaughn; eight great-grandchildren, Elexia Townson, Toby Boyd, Austin Minor, Aurora Minor, Daphnie Sosa, Matthew Sosa, Leah Minor and Cameron Minor; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Adela Garza; one son, Roy Garza; one sister, Josie Edwards; and one brother, Carlos Garza.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davidson Cemetery Association, or the First Baptist Church of Davidson in memory of Ruben Garza.
