Obituary

A gathering of friends and family for former Frederick resident, Stan Copeland age 57, of Tulsa, Oklahoma will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Northside Christian Church, 1221 N. Elm Place in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Inurnment will be on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma at 10:30 a.m, under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma. Stan died on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Tulsa of complications from diabetes. He was born on May 28, 1965, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Robert and Mary Frances (Smith) Copeland. He received his education from the Frederick Public School System. In high school, Stan played football for the Frederick Bombers, was a member of the golf team and was the photographer for the annual yearbook. During these years in school, Stan worked at the Frederick Daily Leader where his father served as the General Manager. This sparked an interest in Stan to continue work in the newspaper business. Towards the end, he served newspapers in Norman, Oklahoma; Enid, Oklahoma; Amarillo, Texas; Miami, Oklahoma; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 1996, Stan moved to Tulsa, and shortly thereafter started working for JD Young, Inc. He worked for JD Young for 25 years, including up to the time of his death.  Stan enjoyed the work and was grateful for the friendships with his many colleagues there.

On October 24, 1998, Stan married Dee, and to this union, 2 sons were born.  Smith Allen, 21 and Davis Young, 17.  Stan's number one priority in life was his family. He greatly enjoyed spending time with Dee and the boys including being an involved participant in all their activities.

Survivors include his wife, Dee; two sons:  Smith Allen and Davis Young; his brother, Robert, Jr. of Plainview, Texas; a sister-in-law Pamala Mar of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Zachary Young Copeland; 3 nieces:  Journey Lee Copeland, Hannah Nichole Copeland, and Miriam Elizabeth Copeland; one aunt, Kathleen Trautman and her husband Richard of Belton, Texas; and 2 great-nephews:  Braxton James Philpott and Ryker Dale Philpott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Curtis Lee Copeland; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Knight Copeland; Uncles and Aunts:  Jay Robey and Mary Pearl Smith, Jack and Mary Tommye Smith, Katherine and Jim Curtis; Jeff and Doris Copeland; Jane and Bill Cleage.
