Steve Winford Pike was born on July 31, 1951, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to James Winford and Foy Imogene (Marshall) Pike. Steve was a high school graduate and followed in his dad's footsteps by becoming an Eagle Scout. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Witt on October 22, 1993, in Vernon, Texas.
Early in Steve's career, he owned a bakery in Vernon, Texas. His specialty was baking cakes! His dad enjoyed helping out at the bakery, and it gave them the opportunity to spend a lot of time together. Later, he took a job with Coca-Cola as a delivery truck driver for several years. Steve then branched out by taking a position as a D.J. at Altus' KEYB radio station. He was known as "The Country Doctor". For the last twenty-three, he worked at Henniges Automotive in Frederick. He enjoyed his job and the folks he worked with.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home in Tipton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Daphne, and her husband Chris Smalts of Altus, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jorden Smalts and his wife, Lexi, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brayden Smalts and his wife Savannah of Altus, Oklahoma, and Destiny Smalts of Tipton, Oklahoma; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gary Hall, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Imogene, and his sister, Dianne Hall.
Remember Me
Don't remember me with sadness,
Don't remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter,
We've shared throughout the years.
Now I am contented,
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing that I passed along the way,
I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the street,
And you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps,
Only half a step behind.
So please don't be unhappy,
Just because I'm out of sight,
Remember that I'm with you,
Each morning, noon and night.
