Obituary

In Loving Memory of Vicki Mooney

Vicki Mooney, 72, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion. She was well known throughout Frederick as a dedicated and caring bus driver. The children she drove lovingly knew her as “Ms. Vicki,” and she made a lasting impact on their lives with her warm smile and kind heart. To many, she was more than just a driver—she was someone they could count on and remember fondly.

Vicki was a strong, selfless woman who spent her life caring for others. Her love for her family was unmatched, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by them. In her later days, while living in a nursing home, she continued to show that love in the ways she knew best—spending time crafting thoughtful, handmade items for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as creating special handmade gifts for the nursing home staff who cared for her. Every piece she made was filled with love and intention.

She cherished her grandchildren, Bree and Noah, and absolutely adored her great-grandchildren, Nylee, Zaylee, Declan, and her unborn great-grandson. They were her pride and joy, and she loved watching her family grow.

Vicki will also be remembered for the little things that made her so special—like always having a Coke close by, a simple comfort that was part of her everyday life, and her tender heart for animals. She made it a routine to set out food for the stray cats in the neighborhood, making sure they were cared for just like everyone else she loved. She also loved listening to music on the bus, often playing songs like “Happy,” by Pharrell Williams bringing smiles and a little extra joy to the children she cared for.

A private family ceremony will be held at the wildlife refuge, where her loved ones will gather to spread her ashes and say their final goodbyes in a peaceful and meaningful setting.

Her strength, love, and caring spirit touched so many lives, and her memory will live on through the family she loved so deeply and the countless people she impacted over the years. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

“I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away.”
