Funeral service for Vida M. Armstrong age 87, of Hollister, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Armstrong passed away Monday, June 17, 2019, at the Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.
Vida Mae (Arterberry) Timms Armstrong was born March 16, 1932, in Ada, Oklahoma to Earl and Mary (Green) Arterberry. She attended Latta School in Ada, Oklahoma and then transferred and graduated from Frederick High School in 1950. On November 3, 1950, she and Wayne Timms were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1983. She then married Eldon George Armstrong on May 19, 1984 in Hollister, Oklahoma. He preceded her on October 27, 2012. She was employed by Stevens Manufacturing Company and Betsy Bra. She later worked for the Department of Human Services as a home health aide and Genitiva Home Health in Lawton, Oklahoma. Vida formerly served as president of the United Neighbors Club, Better Breathers Club and the Senior Citizen Club. She also had served as the treasurer of the Hollister Baptist Church and the Hollister Cemetery Association. She was a loyal and faithful member of the Hollister Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Shirley Fuller and her husband Larry of Leonard, Texas, Carolyn McAlexander and her husband Steve of Hollister, Oklahoma and Rodney Wayne Timms and his wife Jill of Mustang, Oklahoma; one brother, Donald Stiles and his wife Shirley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Helen Thompson and her husband Waymon of Ada, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Arterberry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Randy Timms, Jeremy Tyler and his wife Jennifer, April Spurgeon and her husband Scott, Shayla Clark, and Amy Reagan; ten great-grandchildren, Shelby Timms, Ryan Timms, Chloe Tyler, Zane Tyler, Hannah Spurgeon, Hailey Spurgeon, Hattie Spurgeon, Matthew Reagan, Alexis Reagan and Ryan Reagan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Arterberry; her mother, Mary Arterberry Stiles; both of her husbands, Wayne Timms and Eldon Armstrong; and two brothers, Leroy and Louis Arterberry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hollister Baptist Church in member of Vida Mae Armstrong.
