Funeral service for Wanda Lee Behnke, age 77, of Frederick will be at1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland Behnke officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Behnke passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Wanda Lee Lassetter Behnke was born on May 17, 1938 to James Hill and Ethel Elizabeth (Brink) Lassetter. She was united in marriage to Roland Behnke on June 24, 1955 in Bosqueville, Texas. Together they served churches in Oklahoma, Texas and Oregon before their appointment in 1980 by the North American Mission board. They served as pastoral missionary associates; starting and developing churches in the Glenwood Springs - Aspen area of Colorado until their retirement in 1990. They continued to serve an additional eleven years there pastoring and encouraging churches. They moved to Frederick in September 2001 and were called to pastor Bethel Baptist Church of Frederick in 2002. Wanda was a gifted Sunday school teacher and small group leader. Wanda is survived by her husband Roland of the home; one daughter, Laura Keaton; two sons, Darren and Chad Behnke, both of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Cameron and Hunter Behnke; three sisters; Helen Fiend of Frederick and Elizabeth Tuggle of Fort Worth and Valerie Wilson of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.
