Funeral service for Whitcomb Robert "Whit" Bartholomew, age 72, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Chattanooga with Rev. Steve Sezate officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Bartholomew passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in a Lawton hospital. Whitcomb Robert Bartholomew was born on January 11, 1943 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to John "Jack" and Faustina "Tina" (Allison) Bartholomew. He attended school in Carlsbad and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961. He later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. He was united in marriage to Georgia Shaw Taylor on April 24, 1964 in Artesia, New Mexico. He worked as a public accountant prior to his employment with Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton. He worked with the Small Business Administration through Economic Development Center in Lawton and taught photography classes at the Lawton & Frederick Vo-Techs as well as on off-sites in other communities. Photography was his life and he loved to travel. He would get in the car and drive for miles until he found something to photograph. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also had great times having lunch with his buddies. Whit was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, but attended First Baptist Church in Chattanooga. Survivors include his wife, Shaw Bartholomew of the home; one son, Doug Bartholomew and his wife Angel of Chattanooga; one daughter, Shannon Umber and husband Larry of Norman; one brother, Ronald Bartholomew and wife Beverly of Chattanooga; six grandchildren, Cody Spoonemore, Caitlyn Spoonemore, Jordan Umber, Leon, Nicole and Damian Bartholomew. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Friday evening, September 25, 2015 at the funeral home in Frederick from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Memorial contribution may be made to the Chattanooga Cemetery Fund in memory of Whit Bartholomew.
